Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed voting in some parts of Bayelsa and Edo states
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu said this while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Saturday.
Yakubu added that the election was also postponed in four wards with 141 Polling Units in Bayelsa State, adding voting will continue there tomorrow.
In Yenagoa, voting was disrupted, and INEC mobilised security officials to escort the ad hoc staff to continue voting.
The INEC Chair added that the NYSC ad hoc staff members were scared to go back, prompting the commission to postpone voting in the areas.
Voting was earlier suspended in some parts of Edo State.
This was due to the omission of a political party’s logo on the ballot that was deployed.
LYakubu did not state the name of the political party, but THE CONCLAVE learnt that it was Labour Party which was omitted on the ballot distributed to Uromi and other towns in a vast majority of Esanland.
Following this, the constituency election in Esan North, Esan South, and Igueben in Edo State have been postponed to 11 March to hold alongside the Governorship and States Houses of Assembly elections.
