● Assures ADC govt. will grant LGAs autonomy
The National Chairman of African Democratic Congress, ADC, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, has predicted victory for the party’s governorship candidate in Imo State, Professor James Okoroma in the November 11 election in the state.
Chief Nwosu, according to a report by New Era newspaper, said he was optimistic that Imo people would vote massively for Prof. Okoroma to emerge victorious during the poll.
He said the party’s gubernatorial hopeful is in a clear advantage to win the election given his antecedence of prudent management of resources, sterling quality in human resources development and educational background , which he said placed him far above all other contestants.

According to him, “In Imo State we have two professors on our ticket. Professor James Okoroma as the candidate, and his deputy is a professor . Professor who is a consultant on economy and everything.
“These two persons putting their energy and intellect together to rescue the state. Imo State people are known to be educated people , I don’t see them leaving two Professors to go and vote any other way.
“Imo people are one of the educated will now see two Professors on joint ticket and jump them for any reason then there is a problem . So, we are good in imo State.
Prof. Okoroma, ADC governorship candidate
“The people of Imo State pride themselves as the most educated state in Nigeria . So, if they leave two professors to go the other way, then there is a problem, but I can’t see them abandoning their own.”
Nwosu, who is an advocate of Third Force, is possible, revealed that the ADC was working with other political parties and stakeholders to form a rainbow coalition in order to win the election.
Nwosu said if the ADC forms the government in Imo State, its major focus will be on the development of the Local Government Area, which he said is the government that is grassrooted .
According to him, “You don’t build from up down , you build from down up. And then you will ensure there is a good and qualified election at that level of governance.”
He assured the people of the state that if given the mandate, ADC government under Prof. Okoroma will conduct quality local government elections where Professors, technocrats, men, and women of integrity will stand for election to become local government Chairmen and go to work for their people.
Nwosu, who promised local government autonomy under Prof. Okoroma as Governor noted that, “Unlike what you see now if you go to the local government councils, because of the weakness at the Federal level, the governors have taken it over, that cannot happen when ADC forms the next government in Imo State.
“ADC government will not hijack money that supposed to go to the local government councils for the development of the grassroots.”
