The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has commenced the deportation of some of the foreign nationals recently convicted by the court following their arrest for cyber terrorism and Ponzi scheme offences.
Reports said that 42 out of the 192 Chinese and Philippine nationals convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos were deported to their home countries on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
The deportees were among 759 persons arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during a major raid at Oyin Jolayemi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos State, on December 10, 2024.
The EFCC also confirmed that others earlier convicted by the court would depart Nigeria on Monday and Tuesday, August 19.
The commission added that the deportees would be airlifted back to their countries, noting that all the convicts had been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for deportation.
