The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun paid an unscheduled visit to the Police Training School (PTS) and the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 5 Base in Benin City, Edo State, on September 12, 2024.
According to Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the visits were parts of the IGP’s ongoing efforts to ensure that police training nationwide upholds the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and service.
Accompanied by AIG Azungua Nwazue of Zone 5, CP Nemi Iwo of Edo State, CP Lanre Ogunlowo of SIS, and the Force PRO, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the IGP inspected various facilities including recruits’ dormitories, classrooms, and the kitchen.
He focused on the welfare of the 492 recruits currently undergoing training and praised the staff for their dedication to preparing the next generation of officers.
During his visit, IGP Egbetokun underscored the importance of discipline as the cornerstone of a successful career in the Nigeria Police Force, stating that without it, no officer can endure the demands of the job.
He emphasized that foundational training is crucial in shaping recruits into effective and ethical officers.
In addressing the recruits, the IGP urged them to embody professionalism, respect for human rights, and a strong commitment to duty. He reiterated that discipline and focus are essential for successful service and maintaining public trust in the Force.
The IGP also announced plans for further unscheduled visits to other police training schools across the country to ensure that training programmes remain aligned.
