In a bid to enhance public safety and operational efficiency, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed all police commands and formations nationwide to implement a New Year Strategic Action Plan aimed at reducing crime and improving law enforcement effectiveness.
According to Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP highlighted the importance of strategic planning and statistical analysis in combating crime, urging officers to adopt a proactive rather than reactive approach. This directive comes at a critical time, with assessments showing a need for increased vigilance, attitudinal changes, and proactive law enforcement in communities.
Key initiatives in the Action Plan include intelligence-led policing, training and capacity building, public awareness campaigns, and strengthening community relations. The IGP called on all officers to maintain the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in their duties.
To ensure the directive’s effective implementation, the IGP will meet with Strategic Commanders virtually on Monday, January 13, 2025.
