IGP orders intensified crackdown on organized crime, human trafficking

The Nigeria Police Force has intensified efforts to combat organized crime and crimes against persons, including human trafficking and kidnapping, as part of its 2025 action plan to strengthen national security.

According to Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, police operatives in Kaduna State arrested three suspects on January 31, 2025, for trafficking 13 victims to Oyo State in an unmarked vehicle.

The victims were rescued, and investigations are ongoing.

In a separate operation on January 29, operatives in Ogun State raided a kidnapper’s hideout linked to an abduction reported on January 25.

A gunfight ensued, leading to the neutralization of five suspects and the rescue of three kidnapped victims.

Authorities also recovered arms, ammunition, three mobile phones, N5.2 million in cash, and the victims’ stolen vehicles.

IGP Egbetokun commended the officers for their bravery and reiterated the police’s commitment to eradicating security threats nationwide.
