• Approves three new Area Commands for Ogun on three-day working visit to the State
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, officiated the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Police Command Complex in Eleweran, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
This significant event took place during the IGP’s three-day official visit to the state commencing on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024.
In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, it was announced that the ceremony also marked the approval for the establishment of three new Area Commands, demonstrating the commitment to bolstering security measures in the region.
The newly inaigurated Police Command Complex boasts 39 offices equipped with contemporary facilities and amenities aimed at enhancing the operational efficacy of the police force in Ogun State.

With a focus on administrative efficiency, specialized units, and conference facilities, the complex is poised to elevate policing standards and service delivery to the residents of Ogun State.
In addition to inaugurating the new complex, the IGP also unveiled a multifunctional Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun Cooperative and Event Center, alongside a fully equipped Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) and a Complaint Response Unit (CRU).
The CRU serves as a platform for the public to report instances of police misconduct or incivility, reinforcing transparency and accountability within the force.
Furthermore, the approval for the establishment of three new Area Commands in strategic locations within Ogun State, namely Ifo, Imeko, and Idiroko areas, underscores the commitment to decentralizing operations, improving response times, and enhancing security coordination.
During his engagement with HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, the Alake of Egbaland, the IGP underscored the significance of community policing and the imperative of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and local communities in combating crime.
The monarch reciprocated this sentiment, affirming the willingness of his subjects to actively collaborate with the police in crime prevention, detection, and apprehension endeavors.
Addressing officers at the Command headquarters in Eleweran, Ogun State Command, the IGP reiterated the principles of professionalism, integrity, and commitment essential to effective policing. He implored officers to uphold the core values of the police force, eschew corrupt practices, and refrain from conduct detrimental to the force’s reputation.
The Inspector General expressed optimism that these initiatives would foster stronger ties between law enforcement and the community, ultimately fostering a safer and more secure environment for all residents of Ogun State.
