IGP directs FCID Abuja to investigate the killing of Kwara student

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the Homicide section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja to conduct a detailed investigation into the alleged killing of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.

The tragic incident occurred on September 4, 2024.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the officers involved in the incident—Inspector Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Emmanuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip, all attached to the Department of Operations, Kwara State Command—had been identified and detained for further investigation.

IGP Egbetokun expressed deep sorrows over the incident, extending his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

He acknowledged the immense grief caused by the loss of a young Nigerian and assured the public that justice would be pursued diligently.
