The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence assets in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly attack in the state.
Suspected terrorists attacked Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama LGA on Tuesday night and killed no fewer than 75 residents.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Thursday, February 5, 2026, said the deployment was aimed at restoring calm, strengthening security presence, and preventing further acts of violence.
Hundeyin quoted the IGP as extending his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Kwara State over the incident.
The IGP reassured the public that the “Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its responsibility to protect lives and property, and will continue to do everything necessary to guarantee the safety and security of all citizens.”
He added that the Force has launched an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators and all individuals connected to the killings.
