The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has approved the deployment of new Commissioners of Police (CPs) for three states and five formations nationwide to enhance operational and administrative effectiveness.

This was made known via a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi.

Adejobi said the deployments were in line with the police`s manpower development policy.

He stated that the newly deployed CPs were Mamman Dauda, Kano; Etim Effiom, Gombe; Aminu Alhassan, Bauchi; Babatunde Ishola, CPTU Staff College, Jos; and Mamman Sanda, X-Squad, FCID Annex, Lagos.

Also deployed were John Babangida, FCID Annex Gombe; Akinwale Adeniran, Safer Highway, Force Headquarters, Abuja; and Abubakar Lawal, DFA, FCID Annex, Lagos.

The police spokesperson noted that the regular postings of the senior police officers were to align with the Force’s policy on strategic human capacity deployment.

He said the idea was to further help in driving the inspector-general’s policing vision targeted at improving policing services across the country.

Adejobi said reports making the rounds that the former Kano State Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Lawal, was redeployed on grounds of corruption was “false, unfounded, and misleading”.

The police spokesman, however, implored Nigerians to disregard such false information, noting that postings in the police were a normal routine, geared towards strengthening human capacity and knowledge diffusion.
