The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, decorated newly-promoted senior police officers with their new ranks on Tuesday, 10th September 2024, at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the ceremony, attended by dignitaries, families, and colleagues, celebrated the promotion of 8 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and 15 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to the substantive rank of CP, following the recent approvals by the Police Service Commission.
The newly-decorated AIGs include Benneth Igwe, Suleiman Mohammed Abdul, Augustina Nwuka Ogbodo, Stephen Olanrewaju, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, Adegboyega Funsho Adegboye, and Mohammed Bala Labbo.
Newly-appointed CPs are Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, Betty Enekpen Otimenyin, James Iroegbunam Nwokolo, Felix Nka Oben, Olusegun Eyitayo, Ugobueze Ogbodo, Ohagwu Felix Ndukwe, Taylor Lennox Olarewaju, Sa’adatu Ismaila, Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo, Regina Cosmas Udoette, Francis Omatimeyin Gbiwen, Afolabi Wilfred Olatokunbo, Ohiozoba Oyakhire Ehiede, and Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya.
Guests at the event included Right Honorable Anayo Onwuegbu, Former Governors Obong Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom and Dr. Achike Odinwa of Imo State, NBA President Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe SAN, and several retired senior police officers.
Following the promotion, the IGP announced the deployment of the officers in various commands and formations. Notable postings include AIGs Mohammed Ali, Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, Julius Okoro, and Benneth Igweh as Zonal AIGs of Zones 1, 2, 4, and 7, respectively, and AIG Sulaiman Mohammed as AIG Police Accounts and Budget. Key CP postings include Ibrahim Balarabe to CP Western PAP, Olabode Adeleye to CP Intelligence FID FHQ Abuja, and Felix Oben to Anti-Fraud FCID Annex Enugu State.
IGP congratulated the newly promoted officers and emphasized their roles as ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force, urging them to uphold the rule of law and meet citizens’ expectations in their new roles.
