The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has confirmed the withdrawal of 11,566 officers previously assigned to Very Important Personalities (VIPs), following a directive from President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during a meeting with senior police officers in Abuja on Thursday, Egbetokun said the order empowers him to implement the withdrawal fully, and no VIP will question the recall of their security personnel.

He urged officers to remain professional and maintain vigilance, emphasizing the importance of continuous efforts to prevent criminal activities nationwide.
The IGP also reassured Nigerians that the police are collaborating with other security agencies to tackle prevailing security challenges and ensure public safety.
