The convoy had been visiting the Atani Osamale Road in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State as part of their humanitarian efforts to assess erosion proneness in the area.

In an official statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP expressed deep shock and denounced the attack as a clear demonstration of callousness by the assailants and/or non-state actors.

“This act of wickedness towards humanity, particularly their own compatriots who have received aid and support from the targeted diplomats, is truly evil and inhumane.

“The IGP has issued immediate instructions for a comprehensive investigation into the attacks. The investigative team has been charged with the task of swiftly apprehending the perpetrators and their sponsors, ensuring they face the full force of the law.

“The IGP further warns all non-state actors to halt their nefarious activities, as the Nigeria Police Force, working in collaboration with other security agencies, will take decisive action to eradicate their unpatriotic and disruptive behavior,” the statement said.

Moreover, while expressing condolences to the US Consulate for the audacious murder and abduction of their local staff members, as well as extending sympathies to the families of the fallen officers, the Inspector-General of Police assured the public that every effort was being made to secure the safe release of the abducted individuals.

The IGP emphasized the willingness of the Nigeria Police Force to collaborate with all foreign entities in the country, ensuring the security of their personnel and assets.

The Police said they remained committed to the safety and security of all individuals, including visitors and diplomats, within the nation’s borders.
