Igboho’s two-hour ultimatum works as  kidnappers release Oyo family “with immediate effect”

Sunday Igboho issued a deadline. Two hours later, the captives walked free.

A family kidnapped in Igboho, Oyo State — including a pregnant woman, her children and a sibling — regained freedom Saturday after Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, demanded their release.

The moment the victims returned, Igboho town erupted.

Residents flooded the streets, singing and dancing.

Video clips online showed crowds welcoming the family home.

—“Let this be the last time”—

The release followed Igboho’s viral warning to suspected Fulani leaders over rising kidnappings and killings.

In the video, he addressed traditional rulers and community reps, anger flashing through his words.

He alleged Fulani involvement and recounted a ransom case that ended in murder.

“The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person,” he said.

He warned: “Let this be the last time such a thing will happen.”

Igboho said he’d stayed calm only because “my fathers asked me to be calm.”

Then he dropped the ultimatum: free the other abducted victims within two hours or he would move into locations suspected to harbour  kidnappers.

The “deadline threat” worked. The family was released.

For Igboho town, it was relief. For security agencies, it’s another spotlight on the vacuum kidnappers are filling. For Igboho, it’s proof his threats still carry weight.
