Immediate-past Chief Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and one of the governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, Honourable Chille Igbawua has promised to establish Benue State Governance Council that will play advisory roles for Government, if elected as governor in 2023.
In a statement signed by the media cordinator of his Governorship campaign, Mr Andrew Oota, the aspirant who also chairs the forum of all PDP aspirants in Benue State, made this known while addressing the Makurdi branch of Ipusu PDP forum under the leadership of Mr Ayoh Iyese.
According to the statement, “Honourable Igbawua maintained that the Benue State Governance Council will be a replica of the Federal Government’s Council of state whose membership includes former Presidents, former Vice Presidents, Present and former Chief Judges of the Federation, former and past presiding officers of the National Assembly as well as all Governors of states.”
Honourable Igbawua stressed that memebers of the Benue State Governance Council would include all past state governors and deputies, former and present Senators from the state, former and present memebers of the House of Representatives, former Chief Judges of the State, former presiding officers, leaders of the Benue State House of Assembly, the traditional institution as well as top professionals who had excelled in their fields of discipline.
He explained that this pool of well-experienced persons would form a strong advisory bloc that would help Government tap from their wealth of experiences for a smooth and an all-inclusive administration.
He further said the Benue State Governance Council would be institutionalized and given a legal-backing where members would engage in discussions and proffer solutions that would further entrench harmony, unity and propel development in all the sectors.
The Council, he said, would also give all stakeholders an eagle-eye insight into the good intentions of his administration and offer every one in Benue State a sense of belonging irrespective of political party affiliations, adding that what would be paramount would be the welfair and wellbeing of all Benue people.
