▪︎ As stakeholders laud hiis courage in production of “AMOBONI”

The Acting Director General, National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Professor Armstrong Aduku Augustine Idachaba was at the weekend honoured with an award of excellence for his contributions to the developement of theatre arts and communication in Nigeria.
The award was conferred on the Director General by his former employer Kogi state College of Education, KSCOE, Ankpa, in Kogi state
and students of the institution.
The Ag Director General was a former lecturer in the department of theatre arts at the Institution until 1992, when he joined the services of Nigeria Broadcasting Commission NBC.
Professor Armstrong Idachaba was honoured after his book, titled “AMBONI” written 26 years ago, was reviewed and acted by students of the theatre arts of the College.
“AMOBONI” took a prominent stage in the late 90s both on the National and International theatre scenes.
It revealed the pious roles of the late legend, Attah Igala, HRH Ameh Oboni.
The book revealed do much of the potential in Igala tradition as well as an indepth knowledge of the reign of the most popular Attah of Igala, HRH Ameh Oboni, which reign was reportedly laced with so much of traditional wizardry.
Professor Idachaba, a writter, lecturer, and movie producer, was the first Igala movie producer to have occupied a significant place currently in Nigeria’s Nollywood.
His flair for acting and theatre production is unrivalled and had, on many occasions, directed plays in the departments of theatre and performance arts in both Nigeria Universities and outside the shores of Nigeria.
The play was directed by his former student, Ali Ojodale and now a lecturer in the department of theatre arts of the Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, in Kogi State.
On hand to witness the occassion was a Nollywood actor and producer, Thompson Makolo Junior, TMJ, who commended the erudite scholar and theatre arts professional for a job well done, after he identified some talents from the acted script.
According to the Director of the script, Ali Ojodale, the review and act were to give honour to whom honour was due, saying that Professor Armstrong Idachaba’s legacies would endure.
