International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), with headquarters in New York, in the United States of America, has re-elected a Nigerian, Mr Henry Asor Nkang, into its Governing Board (GB) for two years covering 2022 to 2024.
The results of the election, which was generated through the election platform, according to a release, entitled: “GB Election Outcome,” and released by Annelise Parr, on March 29, 2022, showed that Mr Nkang of Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning and Mr Innocent Mugabe of Rwanda’s External Finance Directorate, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning were both re-elected to represent “partner countries” in the GB.
In the constituency of Civil Society and other, two candidates were elected into the Board, namely Charlie Ngounou (AfroLeadership) and Winnie Kamau (Association of Freelance Journalists.
The release announced that there were some uncontested seats.
According to the release: “Following the nomination period (28 February-25 March) the seats of the Providers of Development Cooperation constituency (2) and Technical seat (1) were uncontested and no election was held for these seats
Listed under the constituency of Providers of Development Cooperation were Joseph Barnes (UNICEF) and Thea Schepers (Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs) while Pelle Aardema (Open Works) was listed under technical seat.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Governing Board, Theo van de Sande, has now formally announced the outcomes of the election in an e-mail message on March 2022 edition of the IATI members’ update sent to members of the IATI Governing Board on March 29, 2022 at 8.09 pm
Sande wrote: “In this update you can find the latest information on the governance of our initiative and opportunities to get involved.”
On the Governing Board Election results, he thanked all the candidates and members who participated “in this year’s Governing Board Elections.
“Following the nomination period and online elections (in two constituencies) over February and March, I am happy to confirm the results of the IATI Governing Board elections in all seven seats.

Sande announced that “The new Board will be constituted from 1 May 2022 as required in our Standard Operating Procedures, meeting with members of the outgoing Board at the end of April.
