Retired AssIstant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has debunked media reports of his appointment into the chair of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
There were sundry media reports on Tuesday night indicating that Predidrnt Bola Tinubu had approved Odumosu’s appointment as the substantive Chairman of the anti-graft agency.
The news of the purported appointment did not emanate from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume, which is the “clearing house” where the announcements of appointments by the President are made.
In a swift riposte, Odumosu in a statement, circulated through WhatsApp and other social media handles, said there was no trith ti the news of his appointment as EFCC chair.
Read his disclaimer: “Good Morning everyone, I have been inundated with so many calls and messages between yesterday and today on a purported “EFCC Appointment”.
“I just want to use (take) this opportunity to debunk this information and say it’s totally untrue.
“This information must have emanated from Mischief Makers and should be totally disregarded.”
