Sources close to the family say the 82-year-old ex-leader had been battling a serious illness, widely suspected to be leukemia, for some time before he passed.

In response to the development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to immediately travel to the United Kingdom to accompany Buhari’s body back to Nigeria for a state burial.
