As the 6th governor of Anambra, Prof. Charles Soludo, takes office on Thursday, March 17, an NGO, Anambra Masses for Good Governance (AMAGG), has urged him to hit the ground running.
It also taskedSoludo to ensure good governance in the state to give the people a sense of belonging.
Read AMAGG: “The people are expecting much from his administration, and we in AMAGG, urge the governor-elect to hit the ground running after his inauguration this week.
“There is the need for the incoming governor to ensure good governance to give the people a sense of belonging.
“The people of Anambra voted massively for Prof. Soludo to emerge as governor. Therefore, it’s important that his administration fulfills its campaign promises.”
The group’s position was contained in a statement signed by the President of AMAGG, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene.
He said the one-time governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in the administration of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo should be the people’s governor by carrying “Ndi Anambra’’ along during his administration.
Anyene also advised the governor-elect to strengthen the local vigilance groups, work with law-enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to improve security in the state as no meaningful development could be achieved in a parlous situation.
In his message to youths, he implored them to eschew drug abuse, violence and other vices and key into Soludo’s apparent progressive agenda to better their lives.
“I advise Ndi Anambra to come out with useful and constructive ideas and programmes that would assist Soludo’s administration to succeed.
“Such ideas will complement the government’s efforts in steering the affairs of the state well.
“The leadership of the various communities in the state should come together and develop programmes aimed at improving the standard of living in their areas.
“We advise our communities to work out an agenda, send it to the state government for implementation. We believe that this move will assist the governor-elect to implement some of his administration’s objectives,’’ Anyene said.
