Armed men attacked Community High School in Ahoro-Esinele, Oriire LGA, on Friday morning, shooting a teacher and abducting the principal and several students.
The assailants stormed the school around 8:00 a.m., fled with the principal’s vehicle, and drove the captives into a forest reserve bordering the community, a source told NAN.
Oyo State Commissioner of Police Abimbola Olugbenga is en route to the scene to lead rescue operations. Police spokesman DSP Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the attack but said the exact number of abductees is still unclear.
“There was an attack, and the Commissioner of Police is on his way to the scene; details soon, please,” Olayinka was quoted to have said in a NAN report.
The incident adds to growing concerns over school insecurity in rural parts of Oyo State. More details are expected once the police team reaches the location.
