The Anambra Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two Catholic reverend sisters by armed assailants in the state.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the nuns were reportedly kidnapped on Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Ikenga stated, “This tragic incident occurred yesterday evening, 7 January 2025, as the nuns were returning from a vocational service meeting in Ogboji.”
He assured the public that a joint operation led by the police was underway to secure the safe rescue of the nuns.
The PPRO further said that the “Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, along with the Deputy Commissioner of Police responsible for Operations, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
“They confirmed that the command is working with vital clues to facilitate the apprehension of the suspects and the safe recovery of the victims.”
