Gunmen abduct ex- Anambra lawmaker, Nwawulu, demand ransom in dollars

A former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Benson Nwawulu has been abducted.

His kidnappers are demanding ransom in dollars, according to TheNiche report.

Nwawulu is the third lawmaker that would be abducted in the last three months in the state.

The two former victims, Okechukwu Okoye and Nelson Achukwu were killed by his abductors. Okoye was beheaded.

Nwawulu, who represented Ogbaru 1 constituency until 2019, was abducted in his Ihiala country home in Ihiala local government area of the state.

The former lawmaker’s son has already reached out to some of his father’s former colleagues to raise funds to pay the ransom which the abductors demanded in dollars.

The state police command has confirmed the abduction, with the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, saying that efforts were at advanced stage to rescue him

“Yes, he was kidnapped and we are making efforts to release him as we are on their trail,” he said.
