The Society for Citizens Safety (SCS) has urged the Armed Forces of Nigeria to sustain and intensify ongoing operations against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers across the country.
The group, in a statement on Monday by its Secretary, Gambo Abdullahi, assured the military of the support of Nigerians in the fight against insecurity.
Abdullahi said the recent operational successes by the military demonstrated that criminal elements could be defeated through sustained pressure and intelligence-driven operations.
He said the recent rescue of 360 abducted residents of Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, was evidence that persistent military action could yield positive results.
According to him, the operation, which secured the freedom of hundreds of captives held by insurgents since March, should inspire renewed efforts to dismantle terrorist enclaves and rescue other victims still in captivity.
He said the operation conducted in the Mandara Mountains highlighted the importance of determination, coordination and effective intelligence in confronting insurgent groups operating in the North-East.
The group also commended recent air operations in Borno that reportedly neutralised several terrorists and destroyed a gun truck, noting that such actions continue to degrade the operational capabilities of insurgent groups.
Abdullahi further applauded troops of Operation Savannah Shield for the arrest of suspected bandit and terrorist informants in Niger State, stressing that dismantling support networks remains critical to defeating criminal organisations.
According to him, the recovery of weapons, ammunition, communication equipment and other exhibits from suspects in various operations shows that security forces are steadily disrupting the logistics and supply chains sustaining insecurity.
We also commended the troops of Operation Enduring Peace for rescuing kidnapped victims and foiling abduction attempts in Plateau and Kaduna states.
Similarly, the arrest of a suspected arms supplier and the recovery of more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition by troops of Operation Fansan Yanma in Zamfara, is a significant breakthrough in efforts to cut off the flow of weapons to bandit groups,” he said.
Tinubu to Nigerians: My govt’ll tackle economic hardship, won’t succumb to terrorists
Abdullahi urged the Armed Forces to maintain the momentum and intensify the offensive against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers, while acknowledging the sacrifices and commitment of military personnel across various theatres of operation.
He expressed confidence that with sustained operations, improved intelligence and continued public support, lasting peace and security would be restored across the country. (NAN)
