A group, National Movement for Peace (NMP), has rapped the former governor of Ogun State, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, accusing him of suffering from political amnesia over comments concerning the circumstances that led to the removal of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

THE CONCLAVE reports NMP to have said that in 2020 reactionary cabal that was uncomfortable with Oshiomhole’s reforms in the party conspired to oust him from office through a legal suit that was steeped in curiosity and controversy.

Amosun made some remarks against the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Adams Oshiomhole following the latter’s comments at the book launch by the former national Vice Chairman of the North West zone of the APC, Salihu Lukman in Abuja.

While addressing journalists in Abuja on Friday, the spokespersons for the group, Alhaji Abdulrahman Seidu, Jude Okonkwo, and other members such as Jim Alabrah; Rosemary Izeze consequently noted that the accounts of Amosun were off the mark, jaundiced, distorted, envious and bereft of any intellectual value.

The group described Amosun’s tendentious assertions as not only untrue, bigoted but also a deliberate strategem and subterfuge to hoodwink and misinform the public and call out Senator Adams Oshiomhole whose unblemished, unsullied and immaculate record of public service was public knowledge.

The group stated that Amosun’s comments were not surprising as they were pathognomonic of his rabid and uncouth nature and accused him of fanning the embers of national political discord and dissonance with a view to creating a wedge between former President Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Adams Oshiomhole whose relationship with the former President “is cordial and very well known.”

“We are surprised that the former Ogun State governor is yet to purge himself of extreme egotism and narcissism that were his logotype which earned him a suspension from the APC even as a sitting governor”, the Group asserted.

“For the attention of Amosun, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has paid his dues. He was in the trenches during the military era when he, Amosun was in bed with General Sani Abacha. Indeed, in a statement in 2015, then National coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress ,(OPC), and currently the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, whose name is also Adams like Distinguished Senator Adams Oshiomhole had cautioned then Governor Ibukunle Amosun from making frivolous allegations against people and associations.

“In his words then, ‘It is sad that people like Governor Amosun who were hiding their heads and carousing under the comfort of their families during the Abacha tenure of terror when we were fighting for the re-establishment of democracy in Nigeria are the ones reaping where they did not sow.”

The group said: “We therefore advise Amosun, a politically displaced politician to seek better ways to seek his political reintegration into national politics as he is an expired political good that is now avoided like a political hobo and plague.”

The Group warned that he should not be “taken seriously as he is fond of incoherent political grandstanding whenever he seeks political attention and relevance.”
