The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) has extended profound appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for signing into law the bill establishing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
The group in a statement signed by its Chairman, Isaac Abrak on Sunday said this landmark decision is a testament to the President’s unwavering commitment to equitable development, national unity, and the upliftment of the North Central region.
The statement read: “For too long, the North Central region has faced numerous developmental challenges, including poor infrastructure, economic decline, and the devastating impact of insecurity. The establishment of the NCDC offers a long-overdue opportunity to address these pressing issues and create a pathway for sustainable development.”
The statement added: “However, while we celebrate this important milestone, we strongly emphasize that the success of the NCDC will depend on the calibre of individuals appointed to its leadership and management. It is crucial that only qualified, competent, and patriotic individuals—who are deeply familiar with the region’s challenges and genuinely committed to improving the lives of its people, especially those at the grassroots—be entrusted with the responsibility of running the commission.
“We urge President Tinubu and all relevant authorities to ensure that the NCDC is not only well-funded but also efficiently managed. The resources allocated to the commission must be protected from mismanagement and corruption so that they can truly fulfil Mr. President’s vision of transforming the North Central region. The agency must be a vehicle for real progress, not just another bureaucratic institution that fails to deliver on its promises.
“We commend the National Assembly, state governors, and other stakeholders who played a role in ensuring the passage of this bill. As young professionals committed to national development, we pledge our support for any initiative that will enhance the growth and prosperity of the North Central region and Nigeria as a whole.
“Once again, we extend our deepest gratitude to President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and for prioritizing the development of all Nigerians.”
