●Says “I’m alive and healthy”
A former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, in a swift riposte to the satanic rumour that did the round on Monday night about his death, said he was alive and healthy.
Gowon’s reaction was articulated by his personal aide, Adeyeye E. Ajayi.
Ajayi said, in a terse statement issued late Monday night, that the former Head of State was not dead.
Ajayi said Gowon is “still around and well.
“General Gowon is not in a hurry to go anywhere.”
THE CONCLAVE reports that the death of the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Niger Delta University, Emeritus Professor Samuel Gowon Edoumiekumor, a few days ago, at 53, was the mischief whose escape was deliberately orchestrated on social media in sensational reportage.
The middle name “Gowon”, was mischievously played up in the social media offering, which found its way, without verification, in some online news platforms.
