Governor Fubara reassures Nigerian Army of ongoing collaboration for national stability

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has affirmed the commitment of his administration to a continued partnership with the Nigerian Army (NA) in the pursuit of lasting peace and the unity of the nation.

According to Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, this assurance was conveyed during the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Christmas Luncheon, held at the Port Harcourt Barracks, where the Governor expressed solidarity with the Frontline troops of the 6 Division.

In a message delivered by the Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, Governor Fubara extended warm felicitations to the troops, acknowledging their pivotal role in preserving the unity of the nation.

She commended their dedication, citing them as the reason why citizens can rest assured with closed eyes.

Professor Odu also highlighted the significance of the event, praising the humility demonstrated by high-ranking officials serving their subordinates, aligning with principles of servant leadership found in biblical teachings.

Expressing her delight at participating in the gathering, Professor Odu applauded the selfless efforts of the troops, especially those on the frontline, offering prayers for their continued success. She pledged the unwavering commitment of the Rivers State Government, under Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s leadership, towards ensuring the safety and peace of every Nigerian citizen.

Emphasizing the need for collective effort to preserve national unity, she declared that Nigeria is the pride of its citizens.

Meanwhile, the COAS, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, conveyed appreciation and congratulations to the courageous troops for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in upholding the nation’s security. Represented by Major General KO Aligbe, the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command, he assured the troops that their sacrifices were duly recognized and valued.

General Lagbaja revealed that the Army Headquarters has initiated various welfare projects aimed at directly impacting the lives of soldiers and their families.

He underscored the paramount importance of their well-being to the command, pledging continuous provision of necessary resources and support to enhance the efficient discharge of their responsibilities.

Encouraging frontline troops to foster camaraderie, General Lagbaja urged them to share joyful moments and heartfelt conversations with their comrades.

He emphasized the strength derived from unity and camaraderie, defining them as essential qualities of a formidable force.

The host of the event, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding 6 Division/Land Component Commander, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, expressed gratitude to the COAS for providing an opportunity to acknowledge and thank the troops for their commendable service to the NA and the fatherland, particularly in the Niger Delta Region.

He reiterated the commitment of the NA and the 6 Division to support the Federal Government in achieving its oil output targets for the benefit of the nation in 2024.

Major General Jamal emphasized adherence to global best practices, codes of conduct, rules of engagement, and respect for fundamental human rights in the Division’s operations.

The event included the serving of soldiers by dignitaries, cultural entertainment, comedy, and group photographs, marking the high points of the occasion.
