Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has expressed grief over the death of his former commissioner and Chairman of Local Government in the state, Alhaji Alhassan Dawaki.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shuiabu, on Saturday in Kano.
The late Dawaki died at the age of 79 and left behind 15 children.
Dawaki, a prominent figure who served as a local government chairman and commissioner in the state, breathed his last after a brief illness.
Yusuf described the death of Dawaki as “deeply painful and a huge loss, not only to his immediate family but also the entire state and the nation in general.”
He described the deceased as a peaceful man with a wealth of experience in politics and service to the people.
The governor prayed the Almighty Allah to forgive Dawaki’s shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Al-jannat Firdaus.
Dawaki has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
