After weeks of speculations, Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has finally dumped Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His movement on Tuesday has ended the rash of anxieties and speculations on the issue.
One of the reasons given by the governor for dumping the party that brought him to the limelight and on which platform he was deputy governor and governor twice was injustice in the party.
The claim has raised the question about the sincerity of the governor whom many hitherto considered to be loyal and committed to the PDP.
His song that the South East region has suffered injustice in the PDP appears evidently tenuous.
But there have been speculations that his action has to do with the 2023 presidency.
The APC is believed to be looking to the Southeast zone for its presidential candidate in 2023.
Umahi’s move, as believed, was informed by that thinking and calculation, hence the decision to quickly move in to gain on headstart.
If the APC decides to pick its candidate from the zone, Umahi is eminently ahead of others to be considered. He is said to have a record of achievements in terms of infrastructure transformation of Ebonyi in his kitty.
