●Suspends tax burden on the approved sum for one year
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has officially approved a minimum wage of seventy-two thousand five hundred Naira for Kogi Civil Servants, effective immediately.
In addition, the Governor has directed the suspension of taxes on the approved sum for a period of one year.
Governor Ododo announced the significant development during the unveiling of the new minimum wage, and the signing of the agreement.
He emphasized the importance of implementing the new wage promptly, saying it would help civil servants cope with the current economic challenges facing the country.
Governor Ododo expressed commitment to ensuring that the new minimum wage was not only implemented promptly but also sustained in the long term.
He highlighted the need for continuous dialogue and collaboration between the government and labour to address any issues that might arise.
The Governor also reassured the public that the state government was dedicated to improving the welfare of its employees and creating a conducive working environment for all.
Mr. Elijah Evenemi, Chairman of the Minimum Wage Committee, said that the agreement on the minimum wage was a victory for the people, rather than any political party.h
He expressed gratitude to the Governor for allowing the committee the autonomy to work towards achieving a common goal.
