Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has reacted to the insinuation by her daughter Jane Edidiong-Ufot, that she was being targeted for death through human sacrifice.
Jane is a special assistant on health, safety, and protection in her father’s government.
She had on Saturday trended in a viral video in which she raised the alarm that there was a plot to kill her for sacrifice the same way her mother and two brothers were sacrificed.
THE CONCLAVE reports that although Jane did not mention her father’s bame, yet sundry reports had insinuated the governor in the human sacrifice mischief.
The allegation of “sacrificing” his late wife, Patience Umo Eno, would appear to have stuck like an old adhesive tape on the governor, promoting a reaction by the governor on Saturday.
Recall that the governor’s wife died on September 27, 2024.
Jane had said in the vural video: “Daddy please. Let us talk before this thing destroys. I’m not a sacrifice, mummy was, but I’m not.
“If I die today or my daughter dies… if we die because God is exposing the truth, so be it. But my blood will not go scot free.”
Reacting to the video on Saturday, May 31, 2025, Eno said the clip was part of a politically motivated smear campaign against him.
He said: “We are in political times, so you expect more of that. My family is intact, and the event they were talking about happened immediately after my wife passed away last year.
“Why is it surfacing now and on the eve of the second year anniversary that we are celebrating the milestones that we have achieved? This means there are detractors around.
“My family is intact. The pressure kids go through when they lose a loved one could be traumatic, and all I can appeal to the public is that they shouldn’t bring back sad memories.
“It is enough that I have lost my wife, and I pray they allow her peaceful soul to rest. I can’t be distracted. I remain focused and continue to serve Akwa Ibom people.”
The governor recently announced plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
