The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has agreed to strive to eliminate the scourge of fake news, uphold professionalism within the Guild and pursue the growth and development of online media in the country.
This was one of the resolutions contained in the communique issued at the end of the Guild’s 6th Annual Conference held at Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos on October 6, 2022.
The Guild also agreed to cover the electoral process professionally by sticking to the ethics of journalism in election reporting, namely fairness, objectivity and balance.
GOCOP also agreed to collaborate with INEC, political parties, security agencies, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), labour unions, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the conduct of the 2023 general elections satisfies the letter and spirit of the Electoral Act.
