GOC 6 Division pledges support for NAOWA initiatives

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Land Component Commander (LCC), Joint Task Force (JTF), South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), 6 Division Chapter.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Chairperson of NAOWA, Mrs. Manfon Ejim-Emekah, at the Division’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt Barracks, General Emekah emphasized the importance of NAOWA’s role in enhancing the welfare of military personnel and their families.

He acknowledged that a stable home environment directly impacts the operational effectiveness of officers and soldiers.

According to Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations Lieut. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, the GOC pledged collaboration on key initiatives, including improving infrastructure and transportation within the barracks. He revealed plans to introduce tricycles (“Keke NAPEP”) to facilitate movement for personnel, families, and essential services, aligning with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede NAM.

Additionally, General Emekah praised his predecessor, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, for his contributions to the Division, as well as the immediate past NAOWA Chairperson, Mrs. Maryam Abdussalam, for her community-driven projects. He assured NAOWA of his administration’s continued focus on welfare and development.

Mrs. Ejim-Emekah congratulated the GOC on his appointment and reaffirmed NAOWA’s commitment to supporting military families.

She highlighted pressing issues such as infrastructure upgrades and transportation challenges, expressing confidence in the Division’s backing.

As part of the visit, the NAOWA delegation also met with the Commander, 6 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, to discuss potential areas of collaboration.

The visit concluded with a commitment to sustained partnership, a group photograph, and the exchange of souvenirs.
