The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG), and Head of United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mr Annadif Khatir Mahamat Saleh has encouraged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to discharge its duties without fear or favour.
The SRSG met with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and some management staff members of INEC on Monday, 27 June 2022, in continuation of stakeholders’ engagements as part of his official visit to Nigeria.
He reiterated the commitment of the United Nations to support Nigeria in its efforts to hold peaceful, credible and transparent general elections.
Earlier, SRSG Annadif met with Hon. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada.
They discussed various topics, including security and peace in the region.
