Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has dismissed a purported leaked audio recording allegedly involving him, describing it as manipulated and doctored.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Daniel’s media office said it had received several enquiries about the circulating recording and insisted it was part of an attempt to damage his reputation and advance a political agenda.
The office said it became aware of the recording more than six weeks ago and claimed it was being used for political blackmail, coercion and intimidation.
“The audio in circulation is a manipulated and deliberately doctored material, calculated to mislead the public, malign the reputation of His Excellency, and advance a premeditated political agenda,” the statement said.

According to the media office, law enforcement agencies have been asked to investigate the source of the recording, those responsible for its alleged manipulation and circulation, and the motive behind it.
It added that Daniel’s legal team had been directed to pursue both civil and criminal actions against anyone found to be connected to the recording.
The office said the senator would not be drawn into discussing or authenticating what it described as fictitious material, arguing that doing so would set a wrong precedent in political engagement.
It maintained that Daniel has consistently called for unity and fair play among those seeking the Ogun State governorship and that his public position should not be overshadowed by what it called an unverified recording.
The statement further questioned the timing and manner of the recording’s release, saying those behind it chose covert distribution instead of open political engagement.
It added that Gbenga Daniel remains focused on promoting unity ahead of the 2027 governorship contest in Ogun State and would not be distracted by the controversy.
