Lagos political chieftain Babatunde Gbadamosi has urged all @inecnigeria officials to uphold electoral integrity ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying Nigerians will hold every participant accountable under the law.
Gbadamosi made the call in a post on Tiktok on Thursday, directing his message to polling officers, National Youth Service Corps members, collation officers, Resident Electoral Commissioners, and the INEC chairman.
“Electoral duty is a constitutional responsibility, not a political assignment,” Gbadamosi wrote. “No official is above accountability, whether in the field or at the collation centre.”
He described 2027 as a defining year for Nigeria’s democracy and called on INEC staff to resist pressure and follow due process. Gbadamosi also urged political parties, including @officialABAT and @OfficialAPCNg, to allow the commission to operate independently.
“Nigerians are demanding credible polls,” he said. “When elections are free and fair, both voters and electoral officials are protected.”
INEC has said it is strengthening safeguards for 2027 through technology, improved training for ad-hoc staff, and closer monitoring of collation centres. The commission maintains it is committed to neutrality and credible elections.
With political activities intensifying, Gbadamosi’s post adds to growing public calls for transparency and strict adherence to electoral guidelines in the next general election.
