Umar Ganduje, son of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has emerged as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimingado Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Umar Ganduje was the only contestant as the stakeholders from the constituency chose him as a consensus candidate following the withdrawal of his opponent, Junaidu Yakubu, after a reconciliation meeting arranged by the senator representing Kano North, Barau Jibrin, and the House of Reps member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Abubakar Bichi, before the primary election.

The development followed Governor Ganduje’s decision to rescind his senatorial ambition for the incumbent Senator Jibrin in a reconciliatory effort to prevent the lawmaker from dumping the APC.

Meanwhile, two former commissioners of Ganduje’s Government have won APC tickets to represent their respective constituencies in the House of Reps.

Immediate past Kano State Commissioner of Rural and Community Development, Musa Kwankwaso, clinched the ticket of the APC to contest Kura/Madobi/Garun Malam Federal Constituency.

Musa Kwankwaso defeated his opponent, Hama Aware, with 150 votes to 06 votes.

Another former Commissioner of Education, Sunusi Kiru, also won the APC’s ticket for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency.

Kiru scored the highest number of votes, defeating the incumbent, Ali Yako, with 140 votes to 03 votes, while Bashir Bello got 02 votes.

Kiru is the anointed aspirant in the APC, backed by Ganduje against the erstwhile Director General, Tinubu Support Group, Abdulmumin Jibrin, who eventually got respite in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
