Ganduje appoints acting state chairman of anti corruption commission

Kano Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of has approved the appointment of Barrister Mahmoud Balarabe, who is the Director for Public Prosecution with the state Ministry of Justice, as acting Executive Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.

This was consequent upon the suspension of the Kano Public Complaint and Anti Corruption Commission Chairman, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, for one month by the State House of Assembly.

The suspension, as declared, was to allow for a thorough probe into some allegations against him.

The appointment, according to the state governor, was with immediate effect.

He directed the acting Executive Chairman to discharge his duties diligently in accordance with the laid-down procedures establishing the Commission.

Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado the suspended anti corruption czar was accused of refusing to accept posting of a new accountant to replace a level 4 officer allegedly serving in the commission.

The embattled anti-corruption czar ran into trouble when the State Government allegedly found that he was indulging in life style that is above his earnings, including reported ownership of luxury house in a choice area of the State.

But Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado reportedly denied all allegations of sleaze against him.

He was reported to have boasted that he was ready for open probe into his activities.
