FRSC rescues vehicle plunged into the river at Etioni on Ife-Ondo road

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Osun State Command, Corps, CC Henry Benamaisia, has warned that motorists should desist from excessive speeding that could lead to loss of life and property, adding that, all road users must be safety conscious at all times and drive carefully.

This warning was made known on Saturday in a press statement issued by the Sector Public Education Officer for Sector Commander in the State, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi shortly after the rescue operation of a Toyota Salon Car that plunged into the river at Etioni on Ife-Ondo road in Osun on Wednesday, the 28th day of June, 2023.

According to the statement, effort had been on since the day of the accident and the rescue operation was concluded yesterday Friday 30th June 2023 as the local divers were contacted and they eventually located the vehicle under the river.

An Hiab-Towing truck was used to bring the vehicle out of the river, after which two male casualties were discovered as the occupants of the crashed vehicle.

“After the rescue operation, the retrieved crashed vehicle was handed over to the DPO Nigeria Police Force, Ifetedo Division.

“Probable cause of the crash attributed to excessive speeding and lost of control.

“Other Sister Agencies present during the operation include the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, NSCDC, DSS and Amotekun.

“The relations of the dead bodies were present at the scene as the corpses were buried by the river side according to the tradition of the community” the statement concluded.
