Four persons are in police custody in Yobe state over the mysterious death of a teenage girl at one of the Government Lodges in Damaturu.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Dungus Abdulkarim, speaking to journalists on the incident, said: “Four suspects are in our custody over ‘suspected’ charge of homicide.”
He added that: “The charges of the case will come out clearly after an autopsy is carried out on the body.”
AbdulKarim told journalists that: “Yes, we have four suspects in our custody over suspected homicide (killing) of one girl who died at a Government Lodge in Damaturu. The case is now with the state CID under investigation.”
It was learnt that an 18 year old girl was found to have died on Thursday at a Government Lodge in Damaturu. The cause of her death had yet to be ascertained as of press time.
It was learnt that the police arrested the suspects who are now at the Police B Division in Damaturu.
The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital Damaturu, awaiting autopsy.
A police source told our correspondent that though the cause of death of the deceased had yet to be ascertained, the four suspects were being charged with homicide.
