A former Clerk to the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa, PhD, on Thursday embarked on a whistle-stop visit to the National Assembly.
THE CONCLAVE reports that Maikasuwa’s visit was to physically congratulate and identify with the newly-promoted Clerks of the Senate, Mr Chinedu Akubueze and House of Representatives, Alhaji Yahaya Danzariya.
Maikasuwa’s morale-boosting visit came as a surprise to staff members of the National Assembly who reacted joyfully as soon as he stepped in the expansive lobby of the “White House” which accommodates the Senate and House Chambers.
Dressed in a dark grey caftan, Maikasuwa headed to the office of the Acting Clerk, House of Representatives, Alhaji Danzariya, who was pleasantly surprised to see standing before him his former boss.
They pumped hands and Maikasuwa offered him some useful nuggets for success on his new office and assignment.
From there, Maikasuwa amid cheers and jubilation by staff members, who thronged after him, headed straight to the office of the Clerk of Senate, Mr Akubueze.
The clerk was also surprised and overjoyed with the presence of his former boss right before him.
Maikasuwa also gave him some success tips on how to get better in his new office.
Maikasuwa said he came around to identify with the new officers and to give them some moral support in their new responsibilities.
He also said that coming to see them was a vote of confidence in them.
Maikasuwa’s visit was rounded off in less than twenty minutes, and was seen off by staff members who were all praising, praying and extolling his leadership and his welfare policy while in the saddle.
