The NBM of Africa said it identified with Ms Uruemu Adejinmi over her recent election as the first migrant, first African and first black female to become Mayor in the Republic of Ireland.
The group, in a press statement issued on Wednesday by the
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NBM of Africa, Mr Oluwatosin Dixon, said they saluted the courage, doggedness and relentlessness in her and other people of African descent across the world.
“We are assured that her feat will help to cascade the essence of what Africans stand for and aspire to be, in a free and egalitarian society, shorn of every form of discrimination or racism.
“We congratulate Ms Adejinmi, members of her family and the African diaspora of Ireland.
“We wish her the best in office and expect her to leave an everlasting legacy as a forerunner and role model,” the statement added.
