A fire outbreak on Tuesday destroyed the main library of Kano State Polytechnic on Yahaya Gusau Road, razing books, equipment and academic records.
The incident was confirmed by National Library Staff Union Kano State Chairman Nazir Muhammad, who described it as a major setback to academic activities and research at the institution.
According to the union, the fire gutted valuable educational materials and essential working tools, raising concern among staff and students.
The union extended sympathy to affected workers, students and management, noting that the library plays a critical role in teaching, learning and knowledge preservation. It appealed to government, education authorities and public-spirited individuals to support efforts to rebuild and upgrade the facility.
The incident is the latest in a series of fire outbreaks recently recorded at the polytechnic. The cause of the fire had not been determined as of Wednesday.
