Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has directed all political appointees not aligned with the All Progressives Congress, APC, or who have declared allegiance to other parties to resign within 48 hours or be dismissed.
The directive was issued Thursday in a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou. Affected appointees are to submit resignation letters to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government within the deadline.

Fintiri said the move was necessary to preserve loyalty, discipline and the integrity of public service.

“This directive has become necessary to preserve government loyalty, discipline, and the integrity of public service,” the governor was quoted as saying.
He warned that political office holders must remain committed to the administration’s policies and political direction. According to him, appointees who have shifted allegiance pose “a clear risk of sabotage, information leakage, and obstruction of policy implementation and party strategy.”

Wonosikou said the Secretary to the State Government and the Head of Service have been ordered to compile and verify a list of all affected appointees for compliance monitoring.
The governor warned of severe sanctions for non-compliance.
“Failure to comply with this directive within the stipulated timeframe shall result in immediate termination of appointment, cessation of all salaries, entitlements and benefits, and further administrative action,” the statement read.
Fintiri described the order as a necessary step to ensure loyalty within government and insisted that public office holders must be fully aligned with his administration’s vision and mandate.
“Government cannot condone divided loyalty in the discharge of public trust,” he added.
The directive takes immediate effect.
