Saudi Pro League club, Al-Nassr, have been banned from registering new players over outstanding debts relating to the transfer of Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa.
Musa, who moved to Al-Nassr from Premier League club, Leicester City, in 2018, played 62 games for the Saudi Arabian club in all competitions, scoring 14 goals, before leaving in 2020.
The world football governing body, FIFA, made this known on Thursday.
Al-Nassr, who finished second in the league last season after signing Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, in January 2023, signed Croatian midfielder, Marcelo Brozovic, from Inter Milan earlier this month.
They next play Portuguese side SC Farense in a friendly on Friday.
“Al-Nassr are currently prevented from registering new players due to outstanding debts.
“The relevant bans will be lifted immediately upon the settlement of the debts being confirmed by the creditors concerned,” a FIFA spokesperson told Reuters on Thursday.
Last month, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced a Sports Clubs Investment and Privatisation Project involving league champions Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr, and Al-Hilal.
PIF owns 75 per cent of each of the four clubs, while their respective non-profit foundations own 25 per cent of each.
