The Ministry of Power says there is no plan to sell the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and urges the public to dismiss statements regarding a non-existing plan to privatize the company.
In a response to a media report claiming that there is plan to privatize the TCN, Special Assistant to the Minister of Power on media Malam lsa Sanusi said the reports were untrue and only mere misinformation aimed at spreading panic in the power sector, “which is making progress towards ensuring that Nigerians enjoy uninterrupted power supply.”
He said the Federal Government of Nigeria had no intent to sell or privatize the Transmission Company of Nigeria adding that no one in the FGN had made a statement of on intent to sell TCN.
Sanusi stated that the TCN was a centerpiece in the Federal Government of Nigeria’s efforts to rejuvenate the power sector.
