The Osun State Focal Person on National Social Investment Programme-NSIP, Lukman Abimbola Bello, has declared that no fewer than 100,000 pupils across Primary Schools in Osun state are to be captured during the enumeration of the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP) of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management slated for next week.
Also, Corps members serving in the state have been engaged to conduct the enumeration exercise in all of the benefitting schools across the state.
Bello made this declaration while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the stakeholders’ meeting for the commencement of 2nd Cycle Enumeration of the beneficiaries of the National Home-Grown School Feeding (NHGSFP) in Osun state.
The focal person explained that the enumeration became expedient in order to ascertain the number of beneficiaries of the programme in the state in order to ensure adequate supply of the food items.
Bello, who is also the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Social Intervention Programme expressed confidence that the enumeration exercise will be a successful one while calling on the headmasters and headmistress of the schools to cooperate with the officials for the success of the programme.
He however commended Governor Oyetola’s efforts in making life better for the people of the state through his people-oriented programmes.
In her remarks at the meeting, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouk explained that the enumeration programme is aimed at ascertaining the actual number of the beneficiaries of the programme in the state.
The Minister who was represented by Saad Mohammed Oladimeji, assured that the programme will continue to be funded by the Ministry as long as the administration remains in power calling on officials designated for the running of the programme to ensure that they did whatever is expected of them for the success of the programme.
The Minister reiterated the efforts of the federal government towards making life more bearable at all time.
Hajia Farouk further assured that at the end of the enumeration exercise, the actual number of the beneficiaries will be known and statistically entered which in turn will improve the quality of the food items that will be served to the pupils.
At the stakeholders meeting, include the state consultant, Temitayo Aderonke Adeyipo, representative of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Adeyemi Afolabi, Adeleke Nureni Oladimeji from the NBS and Kusamotu Olakunle representing the NYSC.
