FG again modifies COVID-19 curfew

Nigerians have yet to get the nod to move to mover freely as the federal government has again shifted the curfew placed on Nigerians to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTFCOVID19) made this known on Thursday in Abuja.

The federal government approved the shifting of the curfew to 12 am.

Accirding to the federal government, the curfew would be in place from the 12 am till 4 am nationwide.

“I will first of all start with general movement. We are modifying the curfew to commence from 12 midnight to 4am nationwide, effective from 12:00 tonight.

“This does not apply to people on essential services and international travellers that might be returning from abroad,” the National Coordinator of the PTFCOVID19, Dr Sani Aliyu said during a briefing at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport.

The PTF, following the lifting of the lockdown occasioned by the pandemic, had on May 4, 2020, imposed a nationwide curfew from 6 pm to 8 am.

It thereafter reviewed the timing to between 10 pm and 4 am on June 1, 2020.

The PTFCOVID19 also announced the reopening of gyms and entertainment centres at 50% capacity.

Besides, International flights (Abuja and Lagos airports) are to resume operations on September 5, 2020.
