The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has suspended the strike action by primary school teachers, which began on March 24, 2025.
In a communiqué released after its State Wing Executive Council (SWEC) meeting on July 4 and made available to Channels Television on Tuesday, July 8, the union directed all primary school teachers in the FCT to resume duties on Wednesday, July 9.
The decision to call off the strike follows the intervention of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who approved the release of ₦16 billion for the partial payment of outstanding salaries.
The NUT thanked its members for their resilience, support, and prayers throughout the four-month industrial action. [Channels TV]
